Elohim Development Foundation is with Protecting our Community Initiative and 2 others.

The Guma Local Government Council has inaugurated the Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) Committee, with a call on all stakeholders to prioritize peace as a catalyst for growth and development in the society.

At the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Simon Unongu, Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, represented by the Security Secretary of the Local Government Council, Mr. Waku Christopher, emphasized the importance of peace in restoring human dignity and promoting development. He commended Neem Foundation and Elohim Development Foundation, among other NGOs, for their interventions in the Local Government Area.

The Chairman noted that the EWER and Community Dialogue Committees have enabled citizens to build resilience despite attacks and destruction. He assured of the Local Government council’s support in providing financial support for the committee’s operations and expressed plans to expand its scope to cover all Districts and kindreds in the Local Government Area.

Representatives from Neem Foundation and Elohim Development Foundation, Raymond Jooli and Comrade James Aker, respectively, highlighted the impacts of the EWER and Community Dialogue initiatives in three communities within the LGA. They emphasized that the initiatives have fostered a change in perception among herders and farmers.

Traditional rulers in attendance who are beneficiaries of the programme, Zaki Bernard Shawa, Oliver Chado, Emmanuel Iorkyaa and Ikyo Solomon praised the committee’s inauguration, attributing the current peace in the LGA to the efforts of the two organizations. They called for the full implementation of the organizations’ components, even beyond their funding.

Mrs. Aba Gladys was particularly happy as the POCI has helped make them come out of their shelves to openly discuss issues concerning them and that, with this programme, women and youth roles are now recognised in peacebuilding.

In her vote of thanks, Ruth Ode of Neem Foundation expressed gratitude for the development, ensuring that the work done over the past four years will yield lasting results.
